Any dream in which you are conscious that you are dreaming and can manipulate the dream is considered a Lucid Dream. Used contextually in this instance the word lucid refers to simply means that you are conscious and aware. The true extent of your lucidity actually varies according the stability of the dreaming session, your experience with lucid dreaming, how well you can influence the dream, and how much you remember when you wake up.
The most important part of lucid dreaming, of course is the question of whether or not you have control over the things which are happening in your dream and to be aware that you are dreaming. You are in the director’s chair of your dream – meaning that you can have any experience you want in your Lucid Dream.
Imagine for a few moments what that is like. Dreaming usually seems a lot like reality. Most people even feel most of their senses and faculties as if they were awake. The difference is hat in a Lucid Dream, they know they are dreaming. They know that, no matter what happens, they cannot die or become injured while in the dream state. The normal rules and regulations of reality no longer exist. This is, for all practical purposes, you inborn virtual reality world and you make up all the rules. The depth of realism and imagination is not hemmed in by a budget or computer graphics.
More and more people are learning how too use the skill of Lucid Dreaming. Most of us have a Lucid Dream from time to time but just think how wonderful it would be to be able to have a Lucid Dream anytime you want!
A Lucid Dream offers you the chance to have any experience you can imagine. You can meet and hang out with your favorite celebrities and historical figures, have erotic experiences, visit other worlds, speak with a long lost loved one; anything at all! There are no limits other than your imagination.
The ability to Lucid Dream regularly is one which it once took a very long time to learn. Many would spend months in training before they were able to have their first Lucid Dream – and for some, Lucid Dreaming stayed just out of reach no matter how much they tried.
So are there any simple ways of experiencing a Lucid Dream?
Many people who have experienced a Lucid Dream swear by eating certain foods just prior to the dream. If you would like to try this they usually recommend orange juice, milk, cheese, and mustard. These seem to produce the best results.
Others swear by pickles, fish, ice cream and popcorn. They say that these foods lay the necessary conditions for Lucid Dreaming to occur; but keep in mind that these foods are also high in fat and salt, which isn’t going to help you to get a good night’s sleep.
Can Technology Assist You?
New advances in technology have made it easier for people to experience Lucid Dreaming. Some of these devices use LEDs – there are sleep masks and eyeshades which can detect REM sleep and set off a LED, reminding the sleeper that they are dreaming. This then lets them take control over their dream.
One of the most exciting developments in Lucid Dreaming comes to us from the world of audio technology. Audio researchers have discovered a process called binaural beats, in which different frequencies are played into each ear.
Binaural beats serve to induce a synchronizing in both hemispheres of the brain. As if instantly these two special frequencies induce the brain to produce a state of REM sleep. This is where your Lucid Dream can begin.
If you would really love to experience a Lucid Dream then this is for you. This is definitely one of the easiest methods and devices that assist in achieving a Lucid Dream.

Sometimes known as conscious dreaming, Lucid Dreaming is the art of keeping self aware and knowing that one is dreaming while in a dream. This includes being conscious that the events unfolding around you are only part of the dream and being able to exercise control over the dream. All of this is possible for the person who has learned how to use lucid dreaming.
Lucid dreaming is having the power to control the direction of your dream which is an element of your metaphysical existence. You will notice that all the limitations of reality seem to swiftly cease to exist.
But is it as simple as it looks like? Can everyone experience lucid dreaming and bring to life what otherwise seems difficult or impossible in this reality?
Luckily, it’s really not that hard to begin lucid dreaming, as long as you are determined to learn it. There are proven ways to help you access this ability and use your untapped mental power.
In order to master the art of lucid dreaming, you must establish your objective clearly. For instance do you only want a private haven in the form of lucid dreaming or do you want to learn for a precise reason of developing your skills? You must have a clear objective in mind, no matter your reason for learning to lucid dream.
The next step is to learn the techniques of reaching the mental state where lucid dreaming is possible. You’ll have to begin learning dream recall, which is simply remembering your dreams. To begin lucid dreaming, you need to first be able to recall every detail of the dreams that you have.
This isn’t going to happen overnight (if you’ll forgive the pun). Many find it helpful to keep a dream recall register, which is a sort of dream diary. Here you’ll write down each detail of your dreams which you can remember. Do this each day. You’ll find it easier the more you practice. Also, start trying to become aware of your dreaming, to get your mind trained to be alert in your dreams.
Many people have found that hypnosis can drastically reduce the time needed to prepare your subconscious mind to experience lucid dreaming. Often just one of two hypnosis sessions will allow you to consistently remember all of your dreams. Once this occurs your mind is then conditioned for lucid dreaming.
While in a lucid dream, it may happen that suddenly, you are wide-awake. However, with the power that you have attained so far, you’ll be easily able to recollect all the important details of the dream. Now, just try to relax and sleep again, while continuing the dream with the desired directions. When you wake up, you’ll realize the real power of conscious dreaming you just experienced the night before.
Another great way to have lucid dreams is to go back to sleep for a couple of hours after you wake up in the morning. These dreams are the closest to lucid dreams as they leave you wondering if they were actually dreams or your thoughts manifested in the form of a purported event.
When learning lucid dreaming, it helps to be well aware of your sleep patterns so you know when the best times for you to have lucid dreams are.
Lucid dreaming can actually help you fight sleeping disorders, like insomnia. Whenever you are struggling to sleep at the normal sleeping hours, you just need to tell your mind that sleeping equals lucid dreaming, and your mind will take care of all the thoughts that are preventing you from falling asleep.
In the past it was it took quite a while to learn how to lucid dream, however with the dawning of new sound technologies it is now much easier than ever before for anyone to enjoy the experience of lucid dreaming.
One of the quickest and most efficient means of learning how to lucid dream is by listening to binaural audios.
Binaural audio involves listening to two slightly different frequencies in each ear. This synchronizes brain waves to the state where lucid dreaming is most likely to occur and at the same time causes deep relaxation.
Before this technology, meditation was the technique of choice, which did not work out so well for many people. Binaural audio is much faster and works reliably for the majority of people.
By listening to binaural sound waves, particular when combined with hypnosis to prepare the subconscious mind, it is possible for you to experience lucid dreaming very soon after your first attempt.

You’ve heard about lucid dreaming and you’re sure that it is something you want to try. However, you are at a loss as to how one becomes a lucid dreamer.
You also need to think about exactly why you want to become a lucid dreamer. What are the benefits of lucid dreaming? To help us find the benefits, let us first look at ‘normal’ sleep.
What typically happens is you lay down, you close your eyes and you wake six to eight hours later – you may or may not remember any dreams you gave had in this time. In and of itself, not terribly exciting.
Average sleep has a purpose it prepares our minds and bodies to carry out the duties of the next day. However, consider the idea of managing your dreams consciously.
What if there was a way to become a full participant in your dreams? Lead them in the manner in which you alone determine consciously? That my friend is basically what a lucid dreamer does. They control all aspects of their dreams, going where they will and doing whatever they want in the confines of the dream state.
So if you want to become a lucid dreamer how do you do it? There are actually two ways. The first way is having a dream-initiated lucid dream (DILD), which is where the dreamer is in a dream and then realizes that they are, restoring their sense of consciousness within the dream.
The next way is called wake initiated lucid dream (WILD); in this process, you go from wake to sleep stage with no loss of consciousness. To put it more simply you walk through the door from here to your dreams instead of just happening upon them
So how are these types of lucid dreaming induced?
Dream Recall
The easiest place to begin your lucid dream search is in dreams you have already had. When you can remember your dreams, you will be able to recognize when you have that dream again. Many times, we will have the same dream or part of a dream over and over.
The best way to remember your dreams is of course to write them down. Keep a pen and pad by the bed and immediately upon waking from a dream write it down. The reason you want to write it immediately upon waking is so you do not forget any part of the dream. Dreams tend to fade from our conscious mind rather quickly.
Mnemonic Induction of Lucid Dreams (MILD)
This is a technique that was developed by Dr. Stephen LaBerge, one of the lead scientists studying lucid dreaming. The intent here is to simply tell yourself that you will remember something, like an object for example and then in the dream, when you see this object you will realize it is a dream.
Wake-Back-to-Bed (WBTB)
The process here is to go to sleep, doing nothing but setting your alarm to wake you up a few hours later (5 or 6). Once you wake up, DO NOT go back to sleep. Instead, do something else like read for a while, or think as much as you can about lucid dreaming for around an hour then go back to bed.
According to research, this technique has about a 60% success rate. What has happened is you were awakened during an intense time of REM sleep. Your brain will not be completely aware that you are awake. Many times since REM stages tend to be longer, the episodes of lucid dreaming will be as well.
Cycle Adjustment Technique
Developed by Daniel Love, in this technique you first acclimate yourself to waking 90 minutes earlier than usual. Then alternate waking early with waking at your usual time. When you wake up at the later (regular) time, your body will begin to stir 90 minutes earlier, giving you a much better chance at achieving a state of lucid dreaming, at least during this 90 minutes.
Wake-initiation of Lucid Dreams (WILD)
This method was described before. If you would like to achieve a lucid dream this way, all you have to do is to keep your mind awake while you body falls asleep. This is perhaps the most interesting way of entering a lucid dream. It is as if you are getting ready to watch a movie. You are in the real world, you sit on your couch, you turn on the TV and press play (starting to sleep), the screen is black (in the same way as when your eyes are closed), and all you have to do is wait for the movie to actually start.
There are any number of ways to keep your mind alert, count, controlled breathing techniques or concentrated relaxation are all great ways to keep the mind alert. It is a bit like hypnotizing your self. This works best if you are not exhausted, try it during an afternoon nap.
Like many other areas of our life, technology has made its mark. Today you can find several electronic devices that can aid you in inducing lucid dreams. There are masks that can detect when you enter REM sleep then use a vibration, sound or small lights to induce lucidity.
Possibly the best method of all is to play binaural sound frequencies on headphones.
These work by synchronizing the two hemispheres of the brain and have the effect of almost instantaneously changing your brainwaves to the REM frequency needed for a lucid dream to occur.
Combined with the self hypnosis sessions and affirmations to prepare your subconscious mind beforehand, becoming a lucid dreamer is something that everyone can now experience!

Very simply put, a dream in which you are conscious that you are dreaming is known as a Lucid Dream. The expression lucid dreaming in this context means aware or conscious. But the extent of your ‘lucidity’ can vary according to how ‘stable’ the dream experience itself is, how much you manage to remember about the dream when you wake up, and also how much influence you have in taking control of the dream itself.
The most important part of this equation is the control you have over the events of your Lucid Dream and that you know that you are in fact dreaming. You are in control of your dream and can have any experience in your Lucid Dream that you want to have.
Just imagine that for an instant. It looks feels and sounds exactly the same as ‘normal’ reality, except that you know that it isn’t. You know that you are perfectly safe; you cannot die or get injured in a Lucid Dream. There are no normal rules and regulations about what you get up to! It is truly your own ‘Individual Virtual Reality’, with a depth of realism far beyond the most sophisticated computer imitation.
A growing number of people are mastering Lucid Dreaming and trying it for themselves. While most of us have an experience with Lucid Dreaming at some point in our lives, just imagine how great it would be to have a Lucid Dram any time you choose!
A Lucid Dream can be a doorway to some amazing experiences! Meeting and interacting with your favorite celebrity, having untamed erotic fantasies, taking a trip to distant planets, visiting fantasy worlds and touring them, conversing with a lost loved one, in fact anything at all; there are no limits to your imagination!
Being able to Lucid Dream whenever you want is an ability which people once had to spend a very long time to learn. People would spend months and months in training before they had their very first Lucid Dream. Some people found that no matter how hard they tried, they were never able to have a Lucid Dream.
So are there any simple ways of experiencing a Lucid Dream?
There are those who claim that the odds of having a Lucid Dream will be increased by having certain foods close to bedtime. Some of these foods are orange juice, milk, cheese and mustard.
Others will tell you to try pickles, ice cream, fish and popcorn. While they swear by the ability of these foods to produce the right conditions for Lucid Dreaming to occur, these foods also have a high salt and fat content, as well as fatty acids; making them not so likely to produce restful sleep.
Can Technology Assist You?
Technological developments have made it easier than ever for people to have Lucid Dreaming experiences. Devices which can assist you in having Lucid Dreams include sleep masks and eyeshades which flash a LED when REM sleep is detected, reminding the dreamer that they are dreaming and lets them take control over their dream!
One of these new technologies which is very promising is binaural beats, which uses advanced audio technologies to play different frequencies into each ear. This helps people to have Lucid Dreams.
Binaural frequencies help to synchronize the hemispheres of your brain – listening to them helps the brain to reach REM sleep, which is the necessary state for Lucid Dreaming.
If you have always wanted to try Lucid Dreaming for yourself, binaural sound presents the quickest and easiest way to begin.
